María Grela López, a fifth-year Pharmacy student who completed her Undergraduate Research Placement (PEGI) in our research group during the 2025/2026 academic year, has been awarded one of the AECC Summer Laboratory Insternships 2026.
These fellowships, promoted by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), aim to introduce undergraduate students to biomedical cancer research by providing them with the opportunity to complement their academic training through hands-on experience in research laboratories.
During July and September, María will carry out a research project focused on the design and optimization of bioinks for the fabrication of 4D breast cancer models, contributing to the development of new tools for cancer research. The project will be conducted under the supervision of Bárbara Blanco Fernández at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Carmen Álvarez-Lorenzo at the Institute of Materials of the University of Santiago de Compostela (iMATUS).
