R+D in Drug Dosage Forms and Drug Delivery Systems

Helena Rouco Taboada awarded the accésit of the 12th Julián Francisco Suárez Freire Prize for Young Researchers of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Galicia
Helena Rouco Taboada, a postdoctoral researcher in the I+DFarma group, has been awarded the accésit of the 12th Julián Francisco Suárez Freire Prize for Young Researchers, granted by the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Galicia (RAFG), for her work entitled “Micelle-to-Gel: Thermosensitive intra-articular hydrogels for osteoarthritis management”.
The study presents an innovative therapeutic approach for the treatment of osteoarthritis, a disease that affects millions of people worldwide. The research was carried out within the framework of a multidisciplinary collaboration, led by the I+DFarma group, with the participation of trauma specialists from the Santiago de Compostela Health Research Institute (IDIS), teams from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Lugo, responsible for the development of preclinical models, and the collaboration of the Institute of Marine Research of the CSIC (IIM-CSIC).
This recognition highlights the scientific excellence and translational impact of early-career research in Galicia, as well as the value of cooperation between basic, clinical, and preclinical research to address major societal health challenges.
